Support
GeoKids · Mystic Coders, LLC
GeoKids is made by a small team. Email reaches a person, not a ticket queue, and we answer.
Email andrew@mysticcoders.com with anything at all — a bug, a state that looks wrong on the map, a fun fact that isn't quite right, or an idea your kid had. Telling us the device and iOS version helps, but send it either way.
Requirements
- iPhone and iPad: iOS 18 or later. Works in portrait and landscape.
- Mac: macOS 15 (Sequoia) or later, Apple silicon.
GeoKids works fully offline. There is nothing to download after installing and no connection is needed to play.
Profiles and progress
Setting up more than one child
Create a profile per child from the profile picker. Each keeps its own progress, stickers, passport, and streak, so siblings sharing an iPad don't overwrite each other. A profile is just a name you choose and an avatar — no account, no email, no sign-in.
Deleting a profile
Profile deletion sits behind a parental gate: press and hold for three seconds, then answer a short arithmetic question. A wrong answer simply generates a new question rather than locking you out. Deleting a profile erases that child's progress and cannot be undone.
Where progress is stored
On the device only. There is no cloud sync, so progress does not follow a child from an iPad to an iPhone. Deleting the app deletes all profiles and progress with it.
Narration and accessibility
Every prompt, place name, and fun fact is narrated, so pre-readers can play without an adult reading to them. In Settings you can turn on or off:
- Narration and sound effects, independently.
- High contrast map — stronger borders and separation between regions.
- Region patterns — adds texture as well as color, which helps with color vision deficiency.
- Easier-to-read letters — a more legible typeface for dyslexic readers.
GeoKids also respects the system Reduce Motion setting and supports VoiceOver and Dynamic Type.
Playing
Is there any way to lose?
No. There are no fail states, no timers running out, and no red X. A wrong answer gets a soft "not quite" and a nudge closer — after a few misses, GeoKids narrows things down to help. This is deliberate: the goal is a child who keeps trying.
Junior and Explorer modes
Junior mode uses larger targets, fewer choices, and simpler rounds. Explorer mode adds harder distractors — near-miss capitals like Columbus and Columbia — as a child grows. You can switch modes at any time from the profile.
The map looks wrong / a fact seems off
Please tell us. Boundary and capital data comes from public-domain sources (US Census cartographic boundaries, Natural Earth, GeoNames), but errors get through and we would rather fix them than have a child learn something wrong.
TestFlight beta
The iPhone and iPad version is in beta. Install TestFlight from the App Store first, then open the invitation link — it will hand off to TestFlight and install GeoKids alongside your normal apps.
Beta builds expire after 90 days; TestFlight will prompt you to update. To send feedback, take a screenshot while playing and TestFlight will offer to attach it, or just email us. Leaving the beta is a single tap in TestFlight and does not affect anything else on the device.
Privacy
The app collects nothing and has no networking code at all — no accounts, no ads, no analytics, no tracking. The full details are on the privacy policy page.
